On May 21, the preparatory meeting for the 2026 Guangzhou Medical and Health Industry Expo (hereinafter referred to as Guangzhou Medical Expo) was successfully convened at Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission.

Presided over by Deng Xijin, Director of the Pharmaceutical Administration Division of Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, the meeting saw Li Yijie, Fourth-level Principal Staff Member of the division, interpret the overall work plan of the expo and elaborate on its core positioning and highlights. Lin Wei, representative of the expo organizer, delivered a detailed presentation on exhibition layout, business cooperation docking and resource linkage. At the closing of the meeting, Li Tiegang, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, delivered a concluding speech and set clear requirements for subsequent preparation work.

Attendees included relevant officials from Guangzhou Municipal Investment Development Commission, Li Juan, Director of the Biomedical Industry Division of Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, as well as representatives from research institutions such as Guangzhou Laboratory and National Technology Transfer Center. Representatives from municipal and district health authorities, tertiary hospitals, industrial associations and enterprises also attended the meeting.

Participants conducted in-depth discussions on core matters including thematic positioning, exhibition zoning, parallel events, investment and exhibition recruitment, and work division, clarifying priorities and advancement routes for follow-up preparations.

As a featured professional exhibition of the 34th Guangzhou Fair hosted by the People's Government of Guangzhou, the 2026 Guangzhou Medical Expo is coordinated by Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission and Guangzhou Municipal Cooperation Office, and undertaken by Guangdong Cross-Buy Exhibition Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Yinling Health Industry Co., Ltd. Scheduled to take place from August 21 to 23 at Area B of Canton Fair Complex, the expo covers an exhibition area of 30,000 square meters, expecting over 400 exhibitors and more than 80,000 visitors.

With the theme Connect the Globe via Bay Area, Innovation Empowers Health, the expo adopts an integrated "3+8+X" framework consisting of three themed pavilions, eight functional exhibition zones and multiple parallel events. Centering on cutting-edge technology and futuristic medicine, industry-university-research collaborative innovation, and healthy consumption & quality life, it covers people's livelihood, technological progress and industrial ecology, building a full-chain exchange platform spanning laboratory research, clinical application, technological services and industrial development.

A total of 20 parallel events will be arranged, covering opening ceremonies, academic seminars, project roadshows, supply-demand docking, policy briefings and public medical consultation. Special sessions focusing on high-quality clinical research, advanced technology, AI-enabled smart healthcare and traditional Chinese medicine preparation transformation will be held, alongside official tours, hospital dean exchanges and investment promotion activities to facilitate research commercialization, project implementation and in-depth hospital-enterprise cooperation.

Distinguished features include in-depth government support and direct policy delivery to enterprises. Policy lectures, official inspection tours and centralized procurement demand releases will boost hospital-enterprise connection and achievement transformation. Leveraging the Hong Kong-Macao Medicine and Medical Device Access Scheme, an international medical service zone will be set up to introduce cross-border innovative medicines and medical devices, demonstrating the coordinated development strengths of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The meeting stressed that all participating parties shall fulfill responsibilities, strengthen coordination, and advance exhibition recruitment, publicity, on-site arrangement and safety guarantee with high standards. Efforts will be made to build a distinctive, influential and people-oriented medical health industry gala, boosting Guangzhou’s development into a global innovation hub for biomedicine and health industry.
